After spending a small fortune on boba milk tea the last few years, I decided to challenge myself and recreate the beloved drink at home.
With this recipe that tastes just like your favorite shop's version, you can make as much or as little of those chewy tapioca pearls as you wish – without having to break the bank!
Ingredients
Black Boba Pearls Brown Sugar Syrup Pure Vanilla Extract Milk (I'm using oat milk) Sugar Black Tea Boiling Water Ice
Recipe
Boil boba pearls according to package instructions.
Drain/remove from heat and put boba pearl in a separate container to cool (liquid measuring cup usually works).
Add brown sugar syrup and a teaspoon of pure vanilla extract. Mix and set aside.
In a separate cup, steep black tea bag for 5 minutes in ⅔ cup of hot water. Remove the tea bag and stir in a teaspoon of granulated sugar.
Scoop boba into a cup, pour brown sugar syrup on the inside wall of the cup and add ice.
Pour in milk and top with ⅔ cup of black tea. Enjoy.
